An annual
celebration of the Battle of Largs (1263) which was the last major
skirmish between Norwegian Vikings and Scots on the mainland.
In July 1263 King
Håkon Håkonsson is said to have sailed from Bergen with 200 ships and
he was supported with more forces by the King of Man ending up with
the battle of Largs.
It is a celebration
of Viking culture, a cultural event in itself, and the connections
between Scotland and the Viking countries.
